What Should We Pray For?
While living in this physical world, we ask God to fulfill our wishes. Our prayers might be for health and happiness for ourselves or our loved ones, for material gains, or for something else that we believe will make our lives better. We seek what we think is best for us, based on our limited knowledge, understanding, and vision. But is this what we should be praying for?
The saints tell us the Creator knows our past, present, and future. As such, God knows what is best for us. Our prayer should be for God’s sweet Will to play out in our lives and for us to find happiness in that Will.
To fulfill life’s supreme purpose, we need to pray for our attention to be focused on God so we can disentangle ourselves from the web of the world. God resides within us, and to focus on God, we need to learn to meditate. When we withdraw our attention from the distractions of the outer world and focus on the inner spiritual worlds through meditation, our soul takes flight. We connect with God’s love and Light and are transformed into kind, loving, compassionate, and selfless beings.
As we experience the Creator’s presence in our lives, we also awaken to God’s Light in everyone around us. We embrace our oneness and unity and treat others as we would like to be treated. Our relationship with God deepens, bringing us rapid progress on the path Homeward.
We can all find God, said the spiritual Master, and we can all find peace, happiness, and harmony in our lives. What is needed is sincere devotion on our part and a prayer to accept God’s sweet Will in our lives.
