Earth Day

On April 22, people around the world celebrate Earth Day—a day to be grateful for the natural resources this planet provides to sustain life. It is also a day to take action to ensure that these are available to future generations.earth day Rajinder Singh

Honoring the earth is a form of nonviolence, in which we treat our planet with loving care. This includes all its inhabitants from humanity to animals and plants. This planet is a beautiful gem in the vastness of space. We are all one family living on Earth, and just as families help each other, we need to find ways to all live together peacefully.

While living here, we want to make sure the quality of life for ourselves, our family, and the world—both now and for generations to come—is such that we can lead our lives in a healthy way and have enough resources for our sustenance.

While taking care of the planet, we also want to take care of ourselves by developing physically, mentally, and spiritually. We can grow spiritually through meditation, leading ethical lives, and being of service to others.

Part of spirituality is serving others and giving. We have a responsibility to give to other people and to the planet. The Divine is shining in every atom of creation. Let us celebrate Earth Day by caring for our planet, all humanity, the plants, and the animals, while growing spiritually, to make the best use of the blessing of life we have been given.

The Power of Loving-kindness

Part of our spiritual progress is based on developing a kind spirit. To do this, we need to put ourselves in the shoes of others. It means feeling the joys and pains of others. We can ask ourselves if the words we say to others are the words we want others to say to us.
